How It Works
Data leaves organisations through many channels. USB drives, email attachments, cloud storage uploads, file hosting sites, print jobs, and clipboard operations all represent potential data loss vectors. Traditional DLP solutions require complex endpoint agents and network proxies. ActivityPulse takes a different approach by analysing endpoint telemetry that the agent is already collecting.
The DLP engine applies 14 purpose-built rules across six data channels. Each rule evaluates specific event patterns and classifies matches by severity: High, Medium, or Low. Rules consider factors such as file types, transfer sizes, destination services, and whether activity occurred during or outside business hours.
Unlike the scored intelligence engines, the DLP engine operates on a rule-match basis. Every event that triggers a rule is logged with full context, including the user, timestamp, file details, and destination. This creates an auditable trail of potential data loss events that can be reviewed, investigated, and exported for compliance reporting.
