General

What is ActivityPulse?

ActivityPulse is a workforce intelligence platform that monitors employee computer activity from a single lightweight Windows agent. 19 collection modules capture web browsing, application usage, file transfers, email, AI tool usage, and more. 10 server-side intelligence engines then fuse and analyse that data to surface early risk indicators, productivity insights, and behavioural trends. Organisations get not just visibility, but actionable workforce intelligence.

How is ActivityPulse different from other tools?

  • No browser extensions required. We capture browser URLs via Windows accessibility APIs, not browser plugins. Nothing for users to disable.
  • AI usage monitoring. Purpose built detection for 33+ AI services including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot.
  • Automated risk scoring. Insider threat (17 signals), retention risk (12 signals with sentiment analysis), and burnout detection (11 signals). All scoring runs on Australian infrastructure with no external AI services.
  • Rules engine with grouped conditions. Build complex alert rules with nested AND/OR logic, 152 fields, and 37 pre built templates.
  • Australian hosted. All data stays on Australian servers. No data leaves the country.

Who is ActivityPulse for?

ActivityPulse is designed for Australian organisations of any size that need workforce visibility for security, compliance, productivity, or remote work management. Common users include IT security teams, HR departments, compliance officers, and business owners.

Agent & Deployment

What operating systems does the agent support?

Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) and Windows 11, x64 architecture only. macOS and Linux agents are not currently available.

Does the agent require any prerequisites?

No. The agent is fully self contained. No .NET Framework, no Visual C++ Redistributable, no browser extensions. Just install the MSI and go.

How do I deploy the agent?

Download the MSI installer from the portal and deploy via:

  • Manual install. Double click the MSI on each machine.
  • GPO (Group Policy). Assign the MSI package to computer objects via Software Installation.
  • Intune, SCCM, or MECM. Push as a Win32 app or MSI package.
  • Silent install. msiexec /i "ActivityPulse_Agent_<version>_rk-<key>.msi" /quiet /norestart

The downloaded filename contains your registration key and is automatically read during installation. Typical deployment takes under 5 minutes per machine. See the Deployment Guide for full instructions.

Does the agent impact computer performance?

The agent uses approximately 30-50MB of RAM and minimal CPU (typically less than 3-4%). It runs as a Windows service with no visible user interface. Users do not notice any performance impact.

Can users disable or tamper with the agent?

The agent runs as a Windows service that cannot be stopped by standard users, with tamper protections and watchdog monitoring. By default it runs in branded mode and visible in Task Manager etc. An optional invisible mode is also available where the agent runs with no visible processes, tray icons, or program entries.

How does the agent handle offline periods?

Events are queued in an encrypted local database during network outages. When connectivity is restored, queued events are exported to the server automatically. Configurable offline queue size (default: 1,000 events).

Data & Privacy

What data does the agent capture?

The agent captures metadata about computer activity, not content. For example:

  • Browsing. URLs, page titles, domains, and duration. Not page content.
  • Applications. Which app is in focus and for how long. Not what the user is working on.
  • Input. Keystroke and click counts only. Never the actual keys typed.
  • Email. Subject lines, sender, recipient, and direction. Not email body content. Outlook Classic only.

AI prompt text and clipboard text previews are captured in higher tier plans where configured.

Is data encrypted?

Yes. Data is AES-256-GCM encrypted on the agent before transmission, encrypted in transit via TLS 1.2+, and encrypted at rest in the database. Agent credentials are protected by Windows DPAPI.

Where is data stored? Is it sovereign?

ActivityPulse is Australian made and Australian hosted. All data is processed and stored on Australian infrastructure. No data leaves Australian jurisdiction at any stage. Every organisation is provisioned with a dedicated database for complete data isolation between tenants. This makes ActivityPulse suitable for organisations with Australian data sovereignty requirements.

How long is data retained?

Data retention is fully configurable per organisation, with retention periods of up to 365 days available depending on your plan. Administrators control how long each data type is retained and can place legal holds to prevent data from being purged during investigations.

How does ActivityPulse fit with Australian privacy law?

ActivityPulse is built and hosted in Australia, with configurable controls that allow customers to deploy monitoring transparently. Customers are responsible for ensuring their use of the platform complies with applicable workplace monitoring laws and for providing notice to employees as required. We recommend consulting your legal team before deployment. See our Australian Compliance Reference and Privacy Policy for more detail.
